Use an import when you need to add or update many employees at once.

Before you start

  • Prepare a spreadsheet with one row per employee.
  • Set up the employment types and outlets your file refers to.

Steps

  1. Open Reports & Data Exchange and choose the employee import.
  2. Upload your file.
  3. Map your column headers to Inside fields. Inside recognises some common header names automatically; check each mapping.
  4. Validate the file. Inside shows which rows will create a new employee, update an existing one or have errors.
  5. Fix errors in your file and upload again, or exclude the invalid rows.
  6. Apply the import.
  7. Review the results. Download the error workbook if any rows failed.

Things to know

  • The import doesn't overwrite employees' existing role or outlet assignments. Change those in Employee Hub.
  • Past imports are listed in the import history.
